Winter has emerged and there are thousands of families in Nepal still residing in temporary shelters nine months after the devastating earthquake. In December 2015, Habitat for Humanity Nepal distributed a total of 2,250 winterization kits to affected families in Nuwakot district. Local volunteers assisted with the distribution in Tupche, Salme, Likhu and Ghyanfedi village development committees (VDCs) of the district. Each kit contained items such as blanket, shawl, torch light and a foam mat.
In addition, 250 sleeping bags donated by the SARAF Foundation were distributed by HFH Nepal in an earthquake-affected community in Rampur of Kavrepalanchok district.
“We are grateful to HFH Nepal for providing their humanitarian support in our district. We look forward to coordinating with Habitat Nepal to assist vulnerable communities to build their homes and improve their living status through livelihood activities for sustainable and economic development.” Goverdhan Sunar, District Disaster Relief Committee Support Officer, Nuwakot district.
