Scouts, Habitat Nepal formalize relations

Following our three years of partnership, Habitat Nepal and Nepal Scouts signed an MoU on 20 December 2016 to work together till 2020. Habitat Nepal, based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been working with Nepal Scouts since 2013 to engage youth volunteers in various activities.

Habitat Nepal National Director, Cheryl Groff and Nepal Scouts National Secretary, Lok Bahadur Bhandari signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations. Nepal Scouts Chief Commissioner, Mr. Rabin Dahal, was also present during the signing of the MoU. Habitat Nepal National Director Groff said that the two organizations will work together to build capacity of youths and mobilize them to help communities build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

As per the agreement, Nepal Scouts will partner with Habitat Nepal in organizing Scout Build by mobilizing as many Scouts volunteers as possible within the Kathmandu Valley. Nepal Scouts has also agreed to take part in Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction training courses organized by Habitat Nepal so as to be able to respond properly in the event of disasters. Likewise, Habitat Nepal will provide opportunities for Nepal Scouts to be represented in special events and initiatives organized in Nepal, including but not limited to, Habitat Young Leaders Build, and other special builds.
